Reaper of Souls is the first expansion for Diablo III and has been revealed to add a new Artisan known as Myriam Jahzia, the Mystic. She will aid players in their quests by Enchanting and Transmogrifying their items.
Enchanting in the new expansion will allow players to re-roll one of the properties of a rare or legendary item for another, possibly greater random property. Players will have to pay with gold and a material cost to complete the enchantment, a mode of payment which is also there with current Artisans.
Transmogrifying an item in the Reaper of Souls will alter the appearance of that item without effecting it’s statistics. Players can simply visit the Mystic and pay gold to change the style of the item they wish to change into the appearance of another item. Blizzard has explained the restrictions and rules governing the act of Transmogrifying on their official Diablo III website.
The Mystic was initially planned to appear in the original Diablo III but was removed by the developers after deciding that her function was redundant in the game’s customization system.
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is scheduled for release sometime in 2014 on the PC and PlayStation 4.
